Back in 2014 Taschen published a super-size “SUMO” Collector’s Edition Rolling Stones book, signed by Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie. Now it reached Milan, where photographs by Bent Rej were exhibited alongside a copy of the book.
Produced in close collaboration with the band, the book charts the Stones’ remarkable history in over 500 pages of iconic and lesser-known photographs, gathered from archives all over the world. There is a foreword by President Bill Clinton, as well as three new essays from award-winning writers David Dalton, Waldemar Januszczak, and Luc Sante. Unprecedented access to the Rolling Stones’ own archives in New York and London adds an equally extraordinary, more private side to their story.
Mick Jagger notes, “We were lucky enough to work with some of the greatest photographers in the world who captured many magical moments of our career. This volume brings together some incredible pictures spanning the past fifty years.”
While Keith Richards adds, “This book isn’t just rock ‘n’ roll, it’s a roller coaster through fifty years of memory lane!”
In addition to the Collector’s Edition, TASCHEN will also offer 450 Art Editions which come with a signed, photographic print. Fans can choose between a print by David Bailey, Bent Rej, Gered Mankowitz, Guy Webster, Ethan Russell, or Anton Corbijn. There is also an extra-large, unsigned TASCHEN edition.
